Last year (July 2010) Serbian government established Strategy for Development and Promotion of Corporate Social Responsilibility 2010 - 2015. The Goverment and related ministry espects that the document will enable a more effective functioning of corporate social responsibility programme, without social detachment and discrimination, and through promotion of social justice, with employee and consumer protection, more responsible approach to the local community and environment.

As a country which strives to accession to European Union, Serbia is obliged to accept all European standard and practice what includes acknoledgment and promotion of the corporate social resposibility and contribution to the socail harmony and sustainable concurency and development. The initative of this strategy came from the Ministry of work and social politics.

Experts engaged in the Project Ivana Ivičić (Croatian Cleaner Production Centre), Maja Pešić Rakanović (Interconsulting, Srbija) and Vanja Janković (UN Global Compact, Bosnia and Herzegovina) participated in a Corporate Social Responsibility Training in Shangahi with the support of UNIDO.

The training took place in November 2010., from 17th to 23rd . The focus was on practical viewpoints/tools for advancing Sustainability Practices. The organiser of this event was InnoCSR CO. Ltd, Shanghai Directory. The training was planed to extend over five days and offer interactive activities. Each day was planed with a different subject focus (as followed) ; Building your Company's CSR Strategy in China, Responsible Supply Chain Management, ISO 26000 - An Introduction, Sustainable Field Trip – to Haworth (furniture company), NEST – The Social Innovation Park, Corporate Excellence through Green Management.

The training sessions offered an insight into current developments and emerging trends in Sustainability and CSR. Participants were provided a chance to learn in a systematic way to design a CSR strategy, plan and implement concepts within their respective scope and in the context of China’s specific environment.

The first day provided the participants with an overview on CSR theory and practice, as well as the strategies for stakeholder engagement. However, on the second day the participants learned that Mr. Neureuter was not able to participate, therefore the lecture on the day 3 was cancelled. However, the last two days were held as planned. On the fourth day, the participants had two field visits. First they visited an NGO that serves as an incubator for other NGOs and assists them at the early stage of work. The second visit was to Haworth, furniture manufacturer, where a presentation on the environmental management and company achievements was organized, as well as a company tour.

Finally, the fifth day was abundant with information on important to Croatia in particular, due to preparation for Kyoto 2013. ISO14064 - Greenhouse Gasses report and evaluation which is important to Croatia in particular, due to preparation for Kyoto 2013.
